17 teams for inter-club golf tournament

Kota Kinabalu: 17 teams will compete in this year’s TYT’s Birthday Inter-Club Golf competition at the Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC) from Oct 24-25.

The tournament is held in conjunction with the official birthday of Sabah’s Head of State Tun Juhar Mahuruddin and in a press conference held on Monday, Sabah Golf Association President Datuk George Bandusena said the main objective is to foster ties among the clubs in the State.

“We also hope to create sports and tourism collaboration among all parties involved because the tournament will see participation of senior officials from various department for the invites section and at the same time to serve as a platform to identify new talents to be roped into the Sabah team to feature in tournaments such as the SGA Cup,” he said.

The tournament is open to clubs affiliated to Sabah Golf Association (SGA) and each club is allowed to send one team of four players each for the gross and nett events and the best three scores will be counted. The top three teams will receive prizes and there will also be novelty prizes and prizes for the top three scorers in the individual nett and gross categories as well as the invitees section.

The inter-club will be held on the first day while the following day will feature the VVIP and the invitees.

SGCC clinched the double last year which was played at SGCC as well.
