China documentary series to promote Sabah
KOTA KINABALU: Some 32 children from different parts of China will be coming to Sabah to shoot a documentary series entitled ‘Youth of China 3 – Nanyang Classroom’ this August.
The series is co-produced by China Central Television (CCTV) and Dino Brandwork.
The Chinese youths will be shooting eight episodes in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Johor and Sabah from August 1 to 21 this year.
Sabah Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Satta) president Datuk Seri Winston Liaw said four of the eight episodes would be filmed in Sabah over a period of 11 days.
“The places where the filming will take place include Kota Kinabalu, Kudat , Kundasang, Ranau, Tenom and Keningau,” he said.
CCTV producer Chen Shiyue, Malaysian producer Dino Goh, Joshua Lai and Liaw paid a courtesy call on Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai yesterday.
Liaw said Yeo would also be included in the filming process depicting the Mayor showing the children how to navigate Kota Kinabalu city on a bicycle.
“This is to promote Kota Kinabalu City Hall’s free bicycle sharing concept,” he said.
The programme is targeted to go on-air in December this year.
The CCTV channel running the ‘Youth of China 3 -Nanyang Classroom’ programme has a viewership of 500 million viewers, both on-air TV and digital presence.
Liaw said the filming in Sabah was a good opportunity for CCTV to promote Sabah.
“We, as a tourism industry non-governmental organization (NGO), will assist them in their needs,” he said.
