8 MWN members appointed, Hyellene as Sabah Museum Ambassador

KOTA KINABALU: Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew presented certificates of appointment to eight members of the State Heritage Council (MWN) for the 2024-2026 term here yesterday.
They comprise Arif Abd Hamid (Director, State Museum Department), Mackey Apison (General Manager, Sabah Cultural Board), Datuk Hj Datu Rosmadi Datu Sulai (Chief Coordinating Officer, Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat), Datuk Dr Jamili Nais (Permanent Secretary, Local Government and Housing Ministry), Sernam Singh (Secretary, Natural Resources Office), Dr Paul Porodong (Chairman, Qhazanah Venture Sdn Bhd cum Member, National Cultural Council), Joanna Datuk Kitingan (Chairperson, KDCA Women Council), and Prof Madya Dr Maureen De Silva (UMS lecturer).
The ceremony was held after Liew launched the Craft Exotica Programme 2024 in conjunction with Sabah Museum Day at the Sabah Museum Complex.
Reigning State Unduk Ngadau 2024 Hyellene Danius also received her certificate of appointment as Sabah Museum Ambassador (July 15, 2024 – May 31, 2025) from the Minister.
Meanwhile, first-time visitors to Sabah from Poland described the Craft Exotica Programme 2024 featuring Indigenous handicraft products as wonderful and amazing.
“We are glad to be here. We had no idea about the exhibition until we visited the museum this morning. Very nice, it’s interesting. We met local people and talked with them,” they remarked, adding they would share their cultural experience with friends back home.
