Che Hor Khor Moral Uplifting Society Penampang to have its own official premises

KOTA KINABALU: The Che Hor Khor Moral Uplifting Society Penampang is one of the proactive non-governmental organisations in the district, says Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew.

Speaking as the guest of honour at the Society’s 22nd Anniversary Dinner gathering at the Sabah Hakka Hall here last night, she praised the Society’s leaders for preserving unity among its 2,000 members for more than two decades.

“Only through unity will an organisation be able to achieve its goals and remain progressive for the benefit of members. The Che Hor Khor Moral Uplifting Society Penampang has come of age.

“I am glad to learn that the Society is in the process of putting up its own official premises on a 6.2-acre piece of land in Bukit Padang. This augurs well for the future of the Society,” Liew said.

Site clearing for the proposed three-storey building project started in April this year, and earthwork is in progress now as indicated in a video presentation.

Meanwhile, Liew announced a donation of RM50,000 in aid of the Society’s anniversary event.

The Che Hor Khor Moral Uplifting Society Penampang President Wong Sound Sing expressed his gratitude to the Minister for her unwavering support.

Among the 1,000 attendees were three special guests namely former Chief Minister Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat, who is also the Life Honorary Adviser of Che Hor Khor Moral Uplifting Society Penampang, Datuk Frankie Liew who is the Chairman of the Society’s Building Committee, and Datuk Susan Wong who is the President of the United Sabah Chinese Communities Association of Kota Kinabalu.

Other distinguished guests were Kapayan Assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang, Lawas Che Wu Khor Moral Uplifting Society President Liaw Chin Ben, Miri Che Sing Khor Moral Uplifting Society President Khor Ooi Long, and Kota Kinabalu Hokkien Association Chairman Datuk Clement Yeh, among others.
