KOTA KINABALU: Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew has been appointed Honorary Adviser to the Young Malaysians Movement (YMM) Sabah Branch.

Its Chairman Paul Chin Siang Kiong presented the certificate of appointment to the Minister for the 2023-2025 term while leading a seven-member delegation in a courtesy call earlier this week.

Briefing Liew on YMM Sabah, Chin said the Sabah branch was officially registered on September 6, 1984, becoming the first youth organisation to bridge West and East Malaysia and laying the groundwork for national youth development.

The Minister commended the Sabah branch for its contributions and excellence in promoting youth development as reflected in its “Five-Star Certified Organisation” award presented by the Federal Youth and Sports Ministry in 2023.

Meanwhile, Chin expressed YMM Sabah Branch’s gratitude to Liew for her Ministry’s financial support for their 40th Anniversary Dinner celebration themed “Beyond 40: Building Dreams Together” on September 7 this year. The National Central Executive Meeting will be held in Sabah from Sept 6 to 8.
