KOTA KINABALU (Aug 1): Sabah Tourism Board (STB) launched its Careline Chatbot, a communication tool designed to provide tourists with round-the-clock access to relevant information and support.
The event took place on Thursday at the Sabah International Convention Centre.
As part of STB’s continuous efforts to enhance communication and service quality, the Careline Chatbot serves as a source of information for tourists, addressing inquiries and offering guidance which includes essential contact information for local authorities in emergency situations, ensuring that visitors have access to immediate support whenever needed.
Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew said the introduction of the Careline Chatbot marks a significant step forward in the mission to leverage technology to improve the tourist experience in Sabah.
“This tool is available 24/7, providing tourists with the information they need at their fingertips. It reflects our commitment to innovation, excellence, and most importantly, safety.
“We must also prioritise safety and ensure that the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are upheld at all times. Therefore, the cooperation and collective efforts of all stakeholders are important,” she said.
“By working together, we create a secure and welcoming environment for our visitors,” Liew added.
During the launch event, a demonstration of the Careline Chatbot showcased its features and functionality to stakeholders and the media. The demonstration aimed to raise awareness among potential users, ensuring they are well informed about this new resource and how to utilise it effectively.
Speaking to the media later, Liew said that data collected from the information relayed to the Careline Chatbot will be used to improve the SOP for tourist safety in Sabah.
“This is an on-going procedure and as time goes on, it will be adapted to the current requirements for the safety of tourists in the state. This is a breakthrough as far as STB is concerned,” she said.
Meanwhile STB CEO Julinus Jimit said that the Careline Chatbot will be manned 24 hours.
“I can guarantee it because before the Chatbot, we at STB took turns manning the hotline 24/7. That is the commitment from us in the industry,” he said.
