Mt Kinabalu guides rate raised to RM230 per trip
RANAU: Climbers will have to pay higher rate to mountain guides at Mount Kinabalu here for their excellent services, said Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun. “Mountain guides are not only capable of taking care a group of at least five people climbing to the peak, but they are now well-trained rescuers. “The decision to raise their rate from RM150 to RM230 is also to acknowledge their bravery in rescuing others during earthquake on June 5,” he said during the reopening of new trail to Mount Kinabalu summit this morning. However, the rate for porter services will be revised in stages. Masidi added effective today, Sabah Parks would also bear the premium cost of insurance covering casualty or death for all mountain guides.
