Promoting Sabah through tourism photography

Kota Kinabalu: Viewfinders Kota Kinabalu, a common interest group (CIG) for shutterbugs, aims to play a proactive role in promoting beautiful spots in Sabah through tourism photography.
Organising Committee representative, Bernard Tiu said the group consists of photography enthusiasts from different genres, and their main activities involve showcasing the fascinating scenic views of Sabah.

These include Kg Tempasuk in Kota Belud, Pantai Batu Luang in Kuala Penyu and Taman Negara Marintaman in Sipitang as well as the Sabahans’ way of life.

“Sabah is the melting pot of many cultures. Many cultural and religious festivals are celebrated and sports events are hosted throughout the year. “These are the best times to capture images of people, cultures and colours in their respective traditional finery and locales,” he said when officially launching Viewfinders recently.

According to Tiu, the gorgeous sunsets in Kota Kinabalu are renowned in the world with a promising daily finalé.

In this regard, he said Viewfinders is keen to host individuals, small groups or events with interest in the different genres of photography from other photographic groups within Malaysia or throughout the world.

“I believe this can be achieved on exchange visits, and I hope that we will be equally welcomed and our gesture reciprocated in similar arrangements when we visit them,” he added.
