Sabah Tourism Board leaves it to police to handle Pom Pom incident

KOTA KINABALU (Nov 16, 2013): The Sabah Tourism Board has full confidence in the police to investigate and solve the incident of murder and kidnap of foreign tourists on Pom Pom Island yesterday.

Its chairman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said the board had confidence in the capability of the police in handling the case as it was not the first time the local authorities had faced such a situation.

“We ask all parties not to make any speculation. Let the police do their job,” he told Bernama when asked to comment on the murder and kidnap of two Taiwan nationals on the resort island in the east of Sabah.

In the incident, a Taiwanese tourist was found dead with two gun shot wounds while his wife is feared kidnapped by a group of men in the 1am incident on Pom Pom Island near Semporna.
