Taiwan-Sabah young musical rapport praised

Kota Kinabalu: The inaugural joint-performance by Kian Kok Middle School Orchestra and Taiwan Hsinchu District Youth Orchestra augurs well for the enhancement of cultural and arts development among students of the school here.

Kota Kinabalu Hokkien Association President, Datuk Clement Yeh, said the programme had also earned praise from the Sabah Tourism Board in promoting arts and culture.

Speaking as guest-of-honour at Kian Kok Middle School hall here, Sunday, Yeh who is also a member of the school’s board of directors, said the Board fully supported the programme because it is good for the students’ development.

He commended the organisers, saying it was not easy to organise such a programme.

“It needs hard work and commitment from all to see the results that we are seeing today,” he said, adding it was also an honour for Kian Kok Middle School to be able to perform on the same stage with the orchestra from Taiwan.

He hoped the students of Kian Kok would be able to learn from the Taiwanese youth orchestra, which had an international reputation.
